West London Art Prize 2013

It has been an exciting month.  I became a member of FACK and entered a competition for the first time. I was very pleased to be shortlisted.  I had to deliver my work at the beginning of the month.  It is a new painting, Neon II, oil on canvas, £925 and is hanging in the Griffin Gallery until July 11th.
Tonight I am doing a talk at the gallery together with the other 13 shortlisted artists about my work.
I will probably post it at a later date.  I feel it is a new direction, using a darker palette and edging towards a physical space rather than just a facade as previously.

Some of the things I am working on right now...

Still fascinated by facades, but now edging more towards doorways, stairways and the way they transform under different lights.....

Artist in residence at Manuka Kitchen Fulham Road!

As of February 2013 I have two of my paintings hanging in Manuka Kitchen my favourite restaurant on the Fulham Road.  Tyler and Joseph had a great review written by the Independent food critic whose main objection was the blank wall facing him as he ate his meal.  So the guys contacted me and we went round one Sunday with a bunch of paintings, and while the girls ate pancakes, we hung the paintings. Et voila!  They are glad to have some art hanging finally and I am happy to have the exposure.

Paintings at Studio 657 December 11-17th 2012

Here is finally an update and report on my second exhibition, the first one in a gallery space, Studio 657 on the Fulham Road.  I certainly learnt a lot putting the invites together, selecting, together with Valerie Monina the director of the gallery, the paintings to hang in the space and organising the opening.  Despite nerves, I enjoyed every moment of it.  It has taken until now for me to take a step back and breathe!  I sold half of the exhibition which was beyond my dreams.  I have now enough money after costs to build a website and purchase some more materials.  I was longing to get back in the studio after all the post - show administration.  I have given my studio a good spring clean and organised all my ideas into sketchbooks so I am now working on new projects (more to follow on this).  I am uploading some images of the show and the opening.  Thank you everyone for coming and for your support.  I look forward to seeing you at the next one!
